The State Secretary said the revocation of permits for 28 companies would not affect workers.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the revocation of business permits for 28 companies in three provinces that damaged the environment still takes into account the sustainability of economic activities and the fate of their workers.

Prasetyo, at the Congress Hall of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Davos, Switzerland, Thursday, local time, explained that although the permit revocation process had been decided, technically the follow-up was still being carried out by the relevant ministries and institutions.

"The President's instructions also require us to ensure that these law enforcement processes are not disrupted, which would result in disruptions to people's jobs," he said.

He acknowledged that there are still a number of companies that are still operating, but this is not a problem as long as the aim is to maintain economic stability and employment.

He said that before the decision to revoke the permit was taken, the government had formed an evaluation team led by Danantara.

The team is tasked with assessing and preparing steps to ensure that economic activity in the company concerned, if it is still possible to continue, does not come to a sudden halt.

According to Prasetyo, there are also companies whose economic activities must be diverted, particularly in the forestry sector, such as those holding Forest Concession Rights (HPH).

The government, said Prasetyo, is committed to reducing tree felling activities in order to preserve the environment.
