Malaysia considers legal action over controversial Grok content
Malaysia is considering legal action against Elon Musk's social media platform X over its use of the artificial intelligence (AI) tool Grok to generate indecent content, Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said.

In a press conference, Fahmi said the decision was taken following X's inadequate response to questions from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) regarding Grok's ability to produce indecent content, including material involving children and women.

According to Fahmi, MCMC had contacted X last week to ask for clarification, but the response received was not satisfactory.

"After receiving the report from MCMC, I instructed that a temporary restriction be imposed on Grok and legal action be considered," he said.

The restriction applies only to Grok, not the entire X platform, on the grounds that adequate safeguards are not yet in place to control AI-generated content.

The duration of the restriction will depend on X's level of compliance with Malaysian law.
