Mbappe will miss Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup clash
Striker Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid's 2025-2026 Spanish Super Cup campaign.

The French national team captain was reported by Diario AS on Tuesday to be unable to play for Los Blancos as he is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained during the break in December.

"Mbappe will not play in the Spanish Super Cup. His knee won't allow him to play. A miracle is possible, but it's highly unlikely," wrote Diario AS.

Los Galacticos decided not to take the risky step of forcing Mbappe back onto the pitch, even though the number 10 striker has been a key player for the team this season.

Despite being confirmed absent, Mbappe will likely still travel with his teammates to provide support from off the pitch.

A report from Diario AS stated that Mbappe's knee injury was indeed a forced condition after feeling discomfort in the match against Celtic on December 7.

After missing just one match against Manchester City, Mbappe, who featured in the matches against Alaves, Talavera and Sevilla, got 270 minutes of playing time despite not being 100 percent recovered from his injury.

Real Madrid's management is also currently working to address the team's injury woes, having recorded a total of 23 injuries in just the first half of the season.

Club president Florentino Perez has reappointed Niko Mihic as a physical therapist to monitor the players' physical condition.

In the Spanish Super Cup, Jude Bellingham and his teammates will face city rivals Atletico Madrid in the semifinals on Thursday.
