President Prabowo Subianto has ordered his staff to pay attention to schools, hospitals, and community health centers damaged by flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, amid government efforts to accelerate the construction of shelters for evacuees.
In a limited meeting in Aceh Tamiang, one of the disaster-affected districts in Aceh, Thursday, the President emphasized that schools, hospitals, and community health centers must also be immediately repaired and rebuilt so that they can function as quickly as possible.
"I also ask that schools, as well as community health centers and hospitals, be given attention, if possible, so they can return to normal operation as soon as possible," President Prabowo told his ministers during a limited meeting.
President Prabowo led a limited meeting for the second time to address the impact of the Sumatra disaster in Aceh. This meeting, held at the Danantara Housing Complex in Aceh Tamiang Regency, was attended by several officials, including
Danantara CEO and Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency Dony Oskaria, who is also Danantara's COO, then Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Head of the Government Communications Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.
Then, there were also Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Governor of Aceh Muzakir Manaf, Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Tandyo Budi Revita, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, and the board of directors of 15 state-owned enterprises involved in building housing for the refugees.
Flash floods and landslides hit a number of districts and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra on November 25, 2025, causing more than a thousand people to die, hundreds of people were declared missing, and tens of thousands of houses, bridges, hospitals, community health centers, schools, and other vital buildings were destroyed and severely damaged.
However, a month after the disaster, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced this week (29/12/2025) that 87 hospitals (RS) affected by the disaster in Sumatra had returned to operation and were providing health services to the community.
