As reported by Gizmochina on Saturday, the effort marks OpenAI's first concrete step into the wearable device market after long-rumored developments. The device is said to be designed by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive, known for designing several iconic iPhones.
Jony's involvement has drawn particular attention, given that OpenAI acquired his design company, io hardware, in May 2024 for approximately US$6.5 billion. The Sweet Pea project was cited as one of the early results of the acquisition.
