PSIM Yogyakarta officially released winger Kasim Botan to fellow BRI Super League 2025/2026 club Semen Padang in this mid-season transfer window.
Quoted from the club's official website, Friday, PSIM Yogyakarta Manager Razzi Taruna explained that this transfer process was a necessary step.
"Yes, we've agreed to transfer Kasim Botan to Semen Padang in the second round. The main consideration is the need for playing time, as competition at PSIM is very tight at his current position," Razzi said.
"We want Kasim to remain competitive and get enough playing time at the highest level with his new club," he said.
He explained that the transfer of Kasim Botan was carried out due to the tight competition in PSIM Yogyakarta's wing sector throughout the first round of the Super League.
Razzi said that this transfer was one way to balance the Laskar Mataram squad in the second half of the competition.
"We decided this as a way to effectively strengthen the squad. The team had to be reduced so we could recruit one new player. This new player is a center-back and he's a foreign player," said Razzi.
Furthermore, Razzi hopes that Kasim Botan can have a positive career when appearing with Semen Padang and appreciates his contribution while defending the Laskar Mataram banner.
"We hope he can make a maximum contribution to Semen Padang and maintain his top performance for the remainder of the season," he said.
This season, Kasim Botan only appeared in one match with PSIM Yogyakarta when facing Persita Tangerang in week 9 with eight minutes of playing time.
