This date coincides with the 2023 massacres in which more than 700 Palestinians were killed in less than 24 hours, including victims of the Arab National Hospital massacre and other massacres in Gaza City.
This came in a resolution issued by the Arab Parliament during its second session of the second term of the fourth legislative chapter, which was held on Saturday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Parliament called for Israel to fully respect the ceasefire agreement, withdraw from the Gaza Strip, open all crossings without restrictions, and ensure the safe and sustained entry of humanitarian and medical aid, paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction. It also welcomed the formation of the Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Gaza Strip, considering it a step that contributes to improving the humanitarian situation and enhancing stability.
Parliament condemned the Israeli statements regarding the opening of the Rafah crossing in one direction, considering that it paves the way for the forced displacement of the residents of Gaza and constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, and an attempt to impose new realities that serve the plans to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
The occupation bears full responsibility for the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza as a result of preventing and obstructing the entry of aid, and the continued targeting of civilians and infrastructure. It calls on the international community to compel it to immediately allow the entry of mobile homes, medical and relief equipment, and to stop the policy of starvation and exposure to slow death.
The parliament called on the international community to impose deterrent international sanctions on the settlers and their leaders and to hold the occupation accountable for its support of them, calling for the inclusion of the escalation of violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, within parliamentary and international actions, alongside what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the prisoners’ file, with the aim of holding the occupation accountable before international judicial bodies.
Parliament condemned the dangerous escalation of occupation crimes in the West Bank, including forced displacement, extensive settlement expansion, house demolitions and repeated incursions, stressing that these practices constitute a systematic plan to annex Palestinian lands and undermine the chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
He also called for the immediate and unconditional release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues, and the activation of the financial safety net to support the Palestinian National Authority and enable it to meet its obligations, stressing that no just peace process can be achieved without genuine Palestinian representation, and rejecting any frameworks or initiatives that undermine the unity of the Palestinian land or marginalize Palestinian representation.
Parliament stressed that the Palestine Liberation Organization is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, calling for Palestinian unity and the success of reconciliation efforts. It also saluted the Palestinian prisoners, demanding their release, especially women, children and the sick, and holding those responsible for violations against them accountable.
The parliament welcomed the UN General Assembly resolutions supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and renewing UNRWA’s mandate, calling for the protection of the agency and its staff, an end to Israeli attacks on it, and reiterating its call to freeze Israel’s membership in the United Nations and international parliamentary bodies due to its grave violations of international law.
Parliament appreciated the efforts made by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, under the auspices of the United States, to support the ceasefire and Palestinian national reconciliation, while the Vice Chairman of the Palestine Committee, Nasser Abu Bakr, confirmed the adoption of all the committee’s recommendations, stressing that what is happening in the West Bank and Jerusalem falls within a systematic plan to annex Palestinian lands
