The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes that the alleged extortion carried out by Maidi while serving as Mayor of Madiun could disrupt the business climate in Madiun, East Java.
"This will certainly also disrupt the business climate there because the costs will be expensive or high for people to do business in the Madiun City area," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Thursday.
Budi explained that the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) held this view because it had discovered that Maidi, while serving as Mayor of Madiun, allegedly asked for money from parties processing business permits in the area.
"The Mayor also requested a sum of money from parties currently processing permits in Madiun City, (for example, ed.) business actors, franchisees, and then there are also hotels," he said.
He said this was contrary to the spirit of community development economics.
"For example, when MSMEs want to participate in business activities in Madiun City, as soon as they enter the door, they are already charged fees for licensing ," he said.
Previously, on January 19, 2026, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) against Maidi.
On the same date, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) revealed an OTT against Maidi related to project rewards and corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSR) funds in Madiun City.
On January 20, 2026, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) announced that three people had been named as suspects following the OTT, namely the Mayor of Madiun Maidi (MD), Rochim Ruhdiyanto (RR) as Maidi's confidant, and the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency of Madiun City, Thariq Megah (TM).
The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) also announced that there were two clusters in the alleged extortion case using the modus operandi of project rewards and CSR funds, as well as other receipts or gratuities within the Madiun City Government.
First, the alleged extortion involving suspects Maidi and Rochim Ruhdiyanto. Second, the alleged gratification involving suspects Maidi and Thariq Megah.
