The Egyptian national team, led by Hossam Hassan, received a major blow before their crucial match against Nigeria on Saturday evening to determine the third-place finisher in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

Two African giants will meet in a crucial match to determine third place, as Egypt and Nigeria seek to secure the bronze medal for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) informed the Egyptian national team of the suspension of two of its players, Marwan Attia and Salah Mohsen.

Marwan Attia and Salah Mohsen were suspended for two matches for their actions following the Senegal match in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

It is worth noting that Marwan Attia made a bribery gesture towards the referees of the Senegal match, while Salah Mohsen made a gesture with the number 7, which is the number of titles won by the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations.

Egypt had lost to Senegal 1-0 in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt is scheduled to face Nigeria this evening at 6 pm in the third and fourth place match.
