Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Anggito Abimanyu, assessed that the three candidates for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) are professional figures, so there is no need to worry about their integrity and independence.
"I'm quite confident that the three candidates proposed by the Governor of Bank Indonesia and the President to the House of Representatives are professionals. So that's my only guideline," Anggito said in response to media questions at a press conference on the guaranteed interest rate determination.
Anggito said that he had personally known all the candidates who would occupy the ranks of the BI Board of Governors for quite some time, not only Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Thomas Djiwandono but also Dicky Kartikoyono and Solikin M. Juhro who came from within the central bank.
When he was still serving as Deputy Minister of Finance and had not yet held the position of Chairman of the LPS DK, Anggito explained that he had worked with Thomas for quite a long time.
According to him, Thomas is a professional person, regardless of political party label.
"I hope whoever is elected will strengthen Bank Indonesia's internal affairs and synergy with the LPS, especially within the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK)," Anggito said.
On Friday (January 23rd), Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will conduct a fit and proper test for candidates for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI). Solikin M. Juhro, currently Assistant Governor - Head of the Bank Indonesia Macroprudential Policy Department, is the first candidate to undergo the fit and proper test.
