Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met and greeted his comrades in arms when he was still serving in East Timor (now Timor Leste, ed.) during a working visit to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Thursday.
"I want to chat with my fellow fighters," said Sjafrie in Kupang, Thursday.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Defense in his remarks after inaugurating the management of the Timor Aswain Union (Untas) at a hotel in Kupang City.
The Timor Aswain Union is a single body authorized to represent all East Timorese (now Timor Leste, ed.) who are loyal to the Indonesian nation, have a pro-integration and anti-violence spirit, and uphold human rights.
Sjafrie mentioned several of his comrades in the 1970s who were present at the inauguration ceremony.
"I still remember that we used to chase Xanana, but now we are the ones being chased back," he said.
