  The Minister of Communication and Digital (Meutya Hafid) stated that the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has temporarily blocked the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok until Party X, the platform owner, provides assurance of compliance to the government.

"We are applying the PSE compliance with the imposition of administrative sanctions to the artificial intelligence-based application Grok, which is currently under evaluation. Therefore, its status remains blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology, awaiting confirmation of Grok's compliance to be submitted to the government," said Meutya in a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

For your information, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has temporarily suspended access to the Grok application as a measure to protect the public, especially women and children, from the risk of spreading fake pornographic content generated using AI technology.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology exercises its authority as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Electronic System Providers.

In the regulation, particularly Article 9, every Electronic System Provider (PSE) is required to ensure that the electronic system it manages does not contain, facilitate, or disseminate electronic information and/or electronic documents that are prohibited by statutory regulations.

During the meeting, Meutya explained that her office was continuing to optimize the registration services for private sector PSEs. As of December 2025, 3,805 PSEs had registered.
