The New Orleans Pelicans were hit by a storm of injuries ahead of their match against the Miami Heat, in the 2025-2026 NBA match, at the Kaseya Center, Miami, United States (US), Monday (5/1) morning WIB.
The NBA website reported Sunday that the Pelicans were coming into the away game on a six-game losing streak and in less than ideal condition.
Pelicans star Zion Williamson is back in the spotlight.
The first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft averaged 24.6 points per game (ppg) throughout his career, but his injury history remains a major obstacle.
Williamson has missed 258 games over the past six seasons and has only appeared in 20 of 36 games this season.
The Pelicans are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with an 8-28 record (win-loss), the worst in the Western Conference.
Their away form is also a serious problem, having won just two of their last 14 matches.
New Orleans' problems are compounded by the absence of several key players who are day-to- day, including Trey Murphy III, Derik Queen and Saddiq Bey.
Additionally, Dejounte Murray has not played a single game this season due to an Achilles injury .
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been more consistent with four wins in their last five games.
