Premier League club Tottenham have announced the arrival of young Brazilian full-back Joao Victor de Souza Menezes, also known as Souza from Santos, in this winter's transfer window.
Quoted from the club's official website, Friday, Souza signed a long-term contract with Tottenham and will wear the number 38 shirt.
Souza said joining a club as big as Tottenham was an incredible feeling, especially since he watched the Premier League as a child.
"This is a big step in my development. The Premier League is very different from what I experienced in Brazil, and I'm really looking forward to this challenge and being part of this squad," said Souza.
Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank said Souza's arrival in his squad was a valuable addition to his squad.
The Danish coach explained that Souza is a talented and promising player as a full-back with excellent technique.
"I'm really looking forward to working with him and helping him develop that potential, as we believe we have one of the most talented left-backs in the world, who can give us something now but also in the future," said Frank.
The 19-year-old began his youth career with Santos and broke into the first team in 2024, making 37 appearances and scoring one goal.
He was also a member of the Brazilian U-17 national team, making 12 appearances. Souza was also one of the players who led Brazil to the quarterfinals of the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
