Uganda: police disperse demonstrations in Kampala

In Kampala, police dispersed demonstrators with tear gas after the announcement of the first results of the presidential election. Fires were started in several streets before being put out by the police.

According to the electoral commission, outgoing President Yoweri Museveni is leading the vote

Former musician turned political opponent, Bobi Wine denounces intimidation and claims that some of his electoral agents have been kidnapped. In power for nearly 40 years, Yoweri Museveni seeks to extend his reign, in a country that has never experienced a peaceful transition since its independence in 1962.
