Indonesian national futsal team captain Mochammad Iqbal Iskandar revealed a message from coach Hector Souto, who asked his teammates not to be complacent before winning the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup.
Indonesia has just made history by advancing to the Asian Futsal Cup final for the first time, after ending an eight-goal thriller against four-time champion Japan with a score of 5-3 in the semifinal match at the Indonesia Arena.
Previously, Indonesia had already made history after reaching their first semifinal after defeating Vietnam 3-2 in the quarterfinal match.
"Thank God, I'm definitely happy, I'm really happy. But, as Coach Hector said earlier, don't be satisfied until we win or keep trying," said Iqbal in the mixed zone of the Indonesia Arena after the semifinal match on Thursday.
Indonesia took a two-goal lead in the semifinal, but Japan equalized at 2-2. In the final minute, the drama continued, with Indonesia scoring to take a 3-2 lead, before Japan equalized again, 3-3 with 30 seconds remaining.
The match continued into extra time, and in this period, Indonesia secured victory by scoring two goals.
