Dr. Marcel Kerlan, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, points out that lack of sleep and stress cause more damage to the brain than alcohol.

According to him, they also lead to a decrease in the IQ of adults.

He says: "The two most influential factors are chronic stress and lack of sleep, because long-term stress weakens attention, reduces cognitive flexibility, and the ability to make decisions. As for chronic sleep deprivation, it affects memory and the speed of information processing in a way that is equivalent to mild cognitive impairment."

As for alcohol, when consumed regularly, it has a toxic effect on the nervous system, especially on executive functions.

He says: "As for the constant 'attachment' to the phone, it is not about the device itself, but about distraction, as the habit of constantly switching between devices reduces the ability to think deeply and concentrate."

Spanish neurologist Celia García Mallo had previously warned that the consequences of sleeping less than six hours are comparable to alcohol intoxication.

According to her, people who don't get enough sleep suffer from poor concentration, slowed reaction times, and impaired cognitive function the following day. Driving can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol.
