Fenerbahce has completed the signing of N'Golo Kante from Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.
The Turkish club released a statement on Wednesday thanking President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his support in finalizing the deal, a day after initially blaming the Saudi Arabian club for the previously planned transfer failing to materialize.
On Tuesday, Fenerbahce stated that Al Ittihad had not yet completed the transaction (as required) despite Kante having undergone a medical and an extension to complete the transfer having been requested.
The former Chelsea midfielder's departure was later announced by his former club via a video on social media.
"On behalf of myself and the club, I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his great support in ensuring this process concludes positively, which will contribute to the development of Fenerbahçe and Turkish football," Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran said on the club's official website.
“Let us emphasize that throughout this process, the unwavering belief in the club, the strong support shown, and the trust we feel from Fenerbahçe's loyal fans have been our greatest source of motivation and strength.”
