Following Indonesia, European countries have agreed to limit social media access for children.
Several European countries have begun moving in unison to restrict children's access to social media, following the steps taken by Australia and Indonesia, which implemented social media bans for children last year.

Australia became the first country to implement restrictions on social media access for children under 16 through amendments to the Online Safety Act on 29 November 2024, which came into effect on 10 December 2025.

Then, Indonesia issued Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection or PP Tunas on March 28, 2025, which regulates in detail the creation of child accounts on digital platforms with age group divisions, namely under 13 years old, 13 years old to before 16 years old, and 16 years old to before 18 years old.

These settings are accompanied by parental consent and supervision requirements tailored to the risk level of the platform being accessed.
