Hector Souto refuses to be called a history maker
Indonesian national futsal team coach Hector Souto refused to be called a key figure when his team made new history at the Futsal Asian Cup.

Indonesia made history by advancing to its first semifinal on Tuesday, defeating Vietnam 3-2. Two days later, on Thursday, that same history was repeated when Indonesia advanced to its first final after crushing Japan's hopes of a fifth title with a 5-3 victory.

"First of all, I'm not making history," Souto said at a press conference after the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup semifinal match at the Indonesia Arena.

Souto emphasized that Indonesia's historic achievement over the past two days was not his own, but rather the team's hard work. He also grew weary of the stereotype of him as the central figure in this achievement, believing it was achieved through collective effort, not individual effort. Y

He even explicitly mentioned the names of those not included in this year's squad, including Evan Soumilena, who is still injured. Evan himself watched his teammates' hard work from the stands at the Indonesia Arena tonight.
