Nutritionist Dr. Rita Ramayulis, DCN, M.Kes, warns that insufficient fiber intake during fasting can trigger digestive problems, including constipation.
"The most common problem with insufficient fiber intake is constipation. Many fasting people experience constipation and stomach discomfort due to insufficient fiber intake," Rita told ANTARA on Wednesday.
He said that the decrease in vegetable and fruit consumption due to changes in eating patterns during fasting could result in not meeting daily fiber needs.
When fiber intake is low, the lecturer at Faletehan University Serang explained, bowel movements slow down, resulting in irregular bowel movements and stomach discomfort.
If it continues for a long time, he continued, the problem of fiber deficiency can cause serious problems in the digestive tract.
According to him, prolonged constipation can trigger inflammation and increase the risk of hemorrhoids.
