PBSI supports BWF's new format for the Indonesia Open
The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) supports the implementation of a new tournament format by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), including the Indonesia Open.

Head of Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), Bambang Roedyanto, stated that the new 11-day format of the Indonesia Open, a Super 1000-level tournament, is part of Indonesia's commitment to supporting the direction of world badminton development initiated by the BWF.

"From the organizers' perspective, implementing an 11-day duration will certainly result in increased operational costs due to the longer implementation period," Bambang said in a written statement.

"However, PBSI views this as a long-term investment to maintain the Indonesia Open's position as a premier world tournament, while also providing standards of organization that align with BWF's global direction."

Bambang believes the new format provides added value from the athlete's perspective.

The number of singles participants increased from 32 to 48 players, thus opening up wider opportunities for athletes to perform at the highest level.
