The Indonesian Billiards Sports Association (PB POBSI) believes that holding exhibition tournaments in Indonesia plays an important role in improving the quality of national athletes and developing the billiards industry, said PB POBSI Secretary General Achmad Fadil Nasution.
"This kind of thing is very good to continue because it has an impact on the development of billiards, both in terms of promotion and technical improvement and inspiration for the community," said Fadil at a press conference for the Pool Legacy tournament, which was attended by two billiards legends, Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante.
He stated that the performance of Indonesian athletes is starting to show improvement, particularly in the junior category, which has consistently won championships in recent championships. At the senior level, the Indonesian team reached the final of the most recent international event.
PB POBSI, he continued, appreciated the tournament organizers and ensured that the federation would continue to encourage the presence of international events in Indonesia in line with the commitment of POBSI General Chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo.
"We continue to support this, in line with our Chairman's commitment to bringing as many international-class events to Indonesia as possible," he said.
Regarding achievement targets, POBSI highlighted the results of the last SEA Games, where Indonesia won two silver medals and three bronze medals.
