The Ministry of Creative Economy stated the need for a platform to accommodate local games.
The Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf) has emphasized the need for a platform with broad reach to accommodate games created by local developers.

"We at the ministry have that dream. But the challenge is, of course, that we're building an ecosystem, so our fellow developers sometimes need a market that can be accessed widely," said Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy, at a press conference.

Neil said that most game developers in Indonesia choose to distribute their work through applications such as Playstore or Appstore which have a wide reach.

According to him, developers are generally still hesitant to include their games on local platforms.

"It's a chicken-and-egg problem. If you put it on a local platform, it's not necessarily the local platform that will say, 'This is an Indonesian game,' they don't know it yet," he said.
