YouTube launches dedicated app for Apple Vision Pro

YouTube launches dedicated app for Apple Vision Pro
YouTube has launched a dedicated app for the Apple Vision Pro device two years after the headset was introduced.

According to TechCrunch news on Thursday (12/2), the YouTube application for Apple Vision Pro is available on the visionOS App Store and is compatible with models using the M2 and M5 chips.

When Apple Vision Pro was first released, YouTube opted for a web-based approach and directed users to access the service through the Safari browser instead of developing a dedicated app.

This prevents users from enjoying useful features such as offline downloads.

The launch of a dedicated app allows users to watch both regular videos and YouTube Shorts on a large virtual screen in an immersive environment.

The app also features a Spatial tab that allows users to find videos in 3D, VR180, and 360-degree formats.

For the latest Apple Vision Pro models using the M5 chip, the app supports playback at resolutions up to 8K.

Additionally, users can use gesture controls to do things like resize windows or pan videos.
