Alwi Farhan advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 All England after eliminating seventh seed Chou Tien Chen in the round of 16.
Alwi won 21-13, 21-19 in the men's singles match at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, Thursday local time.
"Alhamdulillah, God's timing is always the best. Thank you, God, I'm here not because of myself, but because of my God," Alwi said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match.
He said his playing style wasn't much different from his previous encounter with Chou at the 2025 Australian Open. However, Alwi is now working harder to overcome his own doubts and pressure.
