Cybersecurity expert Pratama Persadha assessed that the surprise inspection conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital to the Meta office was an effort by the government to uphold Indonesia's digital sovereignty in the face of global technology companies.
Pratama explained that Meta's low level of compliance with national regulations, at less than 30 percent, impacts not only administrative aspects but also the state's ability to protect the public in the digital space.
"If compliance is low, the state's capacity to protect its citizens in the digital space is reduced. In this context, spot checks are not merely a symbol of assertiveness, but rather an instrument for strengthening digital sovereignty," Pratama.
