Indonesian women's tennis player Janice Tjen was eliminated from the 2026 BNP Paribas Open after losing in the doubles round of 16 at the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells.
Janice, who paired with Taipei tennis player Chan Hao-ching, was unable to stop seventh seed Cristina Bucsa/Nicole Melichar-Martinez in a tight super tie-break match with a score of 7-6(10), 4-6, 5-10, according to WTA records.
Both pairs had strong serves. While Bucsa/Melichar-Martinez served two aces and connected on 74.4 percent of their first serves, Janice/Chan prevailed, winning 87 percent of their first-serve points.
At 3-3, Janice/Chan took the lead by winning the seventh game. However, the two pairs fought back until the score was 6-6, forcing a tie-break that also lasted a long time.
Janice/Chan won 12 of 22 tie-break points to take the first set. The Indonesian/Taipei pair then took the lead early in the second set before Bucsa/Melichar-Martinez fought back to level the score at 3-3.
