Troy Akeem Gillenwater's debut was not enough to bring Dewa United Banten out of its negative trend in the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), after losing 87-97 against Pacific Caesar Surabaya at the Pacific Caesar Sports Hall.
The IBL website, Monday, stated that Gillenwater is a foreign player who replaces the previous imported basketball player, Jordan Lavell Adams.
His presence is expected to fill the void left by Adams, who for the past two seasons has been one of the main points contributors for Anak Dewa.
In the match against Pacific, the power forward's performance wasn't bad. According to game statistics, he actually recorded a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes and 2 seconds of play.
However, his combination with Donell Cooper and Rio Disi hasn't been able to break a four-game losing streak. The 2025 IBL champions now have a 0-5 record (win-loss) in their last five games.
Gillenwater is not an unfamiliar name to basketball fans in Asia.
The player from Boston, Massachusetts, United States (US) has extensive experience in various international leagues, including the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in China, and the P. League+ in Taiwan.
Before joining Dewa United, he was recorded as playing for the Taiwanese club, Fubon Braves.
In seven games with the team, he was able to record an average of 20.3 points per game (ppg), seven rebounds per game (rpg), and 1.9 assists per game (apg).
