Morocco's new national team coach plans revival
Morocco's new national team coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, has launched a revival of his squad after being appointed to replace Walid Regragui, who resigned, starting.

"This is a young team. So I'm sure it can still develop a lot and make the Moroccan people proud of their national team," Ouahbi said, as quoted on the FIFA website

The Belgian-born tactician stressed that he is committed to working hard in the Moroccan squad.

He also felt unburdened by Walid Regragui's historic achievement, leading Morocco to the 2022 World Cup semifinals, their first in history. It was the best performance by an African team at a World Cup.

Ouahbi himself is also an accomplished coach, having led Morocco to victory in the 2025 U20 World Cup in Chile.

"I am absolutely committed to working with dedication, humility, determination, and above all, a great sense of patriotism to continue improving this team, as it has made tremendous progress," said the 49-year-old.

Ouahbi also praised Regragui's achievements with the Moroccan national team. He said Regragui had done an excellent job.

Regragui, Ouahbi continued, was also close to the U20 national team which he managed before coaching the senior national team.
