PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga highlighted the rise in racist remarks in Indonesian football and reminded that the ban on visiting team supporters remains in effect.
Arya said that football truly upholds the values of fair play and rejects all forms of racism, so he regrets that such practices have emerged among Indonesian fans.
"That's what we're quite sad about. Actually, in this world, fair play in football is strong. Football is fair play. And anti-racism has become a movement in football. So, why are we so easily drawn to racist writing or speaking?" Arya said when met.
"So, we hope there will be a new awareness among our colleagues to avoid such expressions, as they are very unhealthy for our football. So, don't be too quick to write without thinking. It's very easy to write without thinking. I hope our colleagues at the PSSI Press can help us raise that awareness," he continued.
The issue of racism has once again plagued Indonesian football, particularly the Super League, in recent times. Several players have been victims of racist abuse, both on the pitch and online.
