The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that 7 Palestinians were killed and 17
This came in a statistical statement issued by the ministry, in which it said that the sector’s hospitals received “7 new martyrs and 17 wounded” during the past 24 hours, without referring to the circumstances of the martyrs and wounded.
The ministry reported that the death toll from Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement since last October has risen to 648 martyrs and about 1,728 wounded, after adding the new martyrs and wounded.
For its part, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced on Monday that the number of journalists killed since the start of the Israeli genocide in October 2023 has risen to "261 martyrs", after the death of journalist Amal Shamali in an Israeli bombing at dawn.
The media office said in a statement: "The number of martyred journalists has risen to 261 since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, after the announcement of the martyrdom of journalist Amal Muhammad Shamali, who worked as a correspondent for Qatar Radio."
Escalation of massacres
Hamas, for its part, said on Monday that Israel is exploiting the world's preoccupation with the aggression against Iran and Lebanon to "escalate its massacres in the Gaza Strip" and tighten the siege imposed on it.
This came in a statement by the movement’s spokesman, Hazem Qassem, in which he explained that Israel “is committing horrific massacres against the people of Gaza, and yesterday it bombed a group of civilians west of Gaza City before Iftar, and at dawn it bombed tents of displaced people.”
Qassem considered this a "dangerous escalation and a major and blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement," especially since the bombing caused civilian casualties, including a journalist.
On Monday morning, three Palestinians, including a journalist and a child, were killed in an Israeli bombing that targeted tents of displaced people in the Al-Sawarha area, west of Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Israel killed three Palestinians, including a paramedic, on Sunday evening in a bombing that targeted a gathering of citizens near the Katiba Mosque west of Gaza City.
Qassem continued: “The occupation is exploiting the world’s preoccupation with following the Zionist-American aggression against Iran and Lebanon to escalate its massacres against the Gaza Strip and tighten the siege on it by closing the crossings, especially the Rafah crossing.”
Despite the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 10, Israel continues to commit daily violations by bombing and firing, resulting in casualties, including martyrs and wounded.
Thus, according to the ministry, the number of victims of the Israeli genocide since October 2023 has also risen to "72,133 martyrs and 171,826 wounded".
The agreement was reached two years after a genocidal war, launched by Israel on October 8, 2023, with American support, which left massive destruction affecting 90% of civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.
