Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychologist from the University of Indonesia (UI) Psychology Institute, Vera Itabiliana Hadiwidjojo, assessed that the implementation of the Tunas PP is an important step in maintaining children's growth and development in the digital era.
"This regulation is important and relevant to the current situation. Children, who are in the developmental phase of their brains, emotions, and self-control, need to be restricted to ensure optimal growth and development," Vera.
Vera explained that restricting access to social media is not just a ban, but rather an effort to provide space for children to develop according to their age.
Too early exposure to social media, he said, can disrupt emotional regulation, influence the formation of self-identity, and reduce the quality of direct interactions with family and peers.
From a physical perspective, excessive gadget use also carries the risk of causing sleep deprivation, minimal physical activity, and even health problems such as eye fatigue.
