Van Gastel reminds PSIM Yogyakarta players to maintain their fitness

PSIM Yogyakarta coach Jean-Paul van Gastel reminded his players to maintain their physical condition during the Eid al-Fitr break from the BRI Super League competition.

Quoted from the club's official website, Wednesday, Van Gastel warned his players to pay attention to their diet during the Eid al-Fitr period.

"Indonesian food, overall, contains a lot of sugar. You have to be conscious of what you're consuming," said Van Gastel.

The Dutch coach did not give specific instructions to the players regarding what they consumed, however, he emphasized the individual responsibility of each Laskar Mataram player.

"I warned them to return to training (after the Eid holiday) in good shape and at their ideal weight. I will take firm action if they don't return as I expect," Van Gastel said.

The former Feyenoord assistant explained that he and the coaching team had put together a detailed training program before the team gathered after the competition break.

He also explained the reason why the PSIM Yogyakarta team had a fairly long holiday break.

"We've been training for a few days now and given them six days off. We have two weeks to prepare for Dewa," said Van Gastel.
