The World Boxing Council (WBC) has ordered super lightweight world champion Dalton Smith to undergo a mandatory title defense against former two-time belt holder Alberto Puello with a 30-day negotiation period.
"If no agreement is reached between the two parties (during the negotiation period), the WBC will make a prize offer in accordance with the WBC Rules and Regulations," said World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán on the official WBC website, which was monitored in Jakarta, Friday.
Smith scored a stunning victory on January 10 when he knocked down and stopped Subriel Matías in the fifth round to capture the WBC super lightweight world championship belt.
