Juventus's opening goal came just four minutes into the match. Bremer got his name on the scoresheet with a powerful header after a scramble in the penalty area. The ball ricocheted off a Genoa player before finding the back of the net.
Juventus' lead increased in the 17th minute. McKennie successfully finished off a quick counter-attack with a low right-footed shot after receiving a cutback from Francisco Conceicao on the right flank.
Juventus had a chance to add another goal before half-time, but McKennie's golden opportunity from close range was not maximized.
