Jannik Sinner kicked off his European claycourt season with a dominant performance at the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he began his bid for a double in Monaco with confidence.
Just nine days after becoming the first man to complete the "Sunshine Double" without dropping a set, the 24-year-old carried that momentum onto the clay with a confident 6-3, 6-0 victory over Ugo Humbert.
"It was a good performance from my side," said Sinner after improving his record to 2-1 in head-to-head matches against Humbert.
In addition to chasing his first ATP Masters 1000 title on clay this week, Sinner also has a chance to reclaim the ATP No. 1 spot from his rival, and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
"You have to change your style of play a little bit, how you approach certain situations... Your first tournament on clay is never easy. I came here with a good feeling, but at the same time, not a lot of expectations," said Sinner.
