Indonesian women's singles player Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan admitted that improving her physical condition is a major challenge to be able to compete at the top level after her progress was stopped in the qualifying round of the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, China, on Tuesday.
Thalita recorded one win and one loss in the qualifying round. She defeated Macau's Pui Chi Wa 21-8, 21-12, but then lost to Hong Kong's Lo Sin Yan Happy 17-21, 12-21 in the main draw match.
"Thank God, I was able to finish the match without injury, but this result was not optimal because I couldn't get revenge from my last meeting at BATC 2026," said Thalita in a written statement from the PBSI after the match.
He admitted that in the second match he still made many unforced errors which made it difficult for him to keep up with his opponent's game, especially in long rallies.
"The problem was that I made a lot of errors, lacked stamina, and didn't anticipate my opponent's shots. My opponent had a good overhead shot and a pretty tight defense," he said.
