Deni Suwardhi, a researcher in the field of digital surveying and mapping from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), said that documentation using three-dimensional (3D) visualization techniques can be used for the maintenance of cultural heritage objects, resulting in precise and accurate imaging.
"Buildings made of wood and brick may also be affected by degradation, especially in tropical areas. This is very noticeable in tropical areas. Climate and environmental changes accelerate material deterioration, so this documentation is necessary," Deni said during a discussion on palace revitalization at the Heritage Center.
3D technology has been used abroad for precise documentation when a cultural heritage building is damaged. With this documentation, reconstruction can be carried out quickly with a structure that more or less matches its original form.
