The West Papua Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association has proposed that the 18th HIPMI National Conference be held Bali to save on travel costs.
"We propose that if not , then Bali. That location is more strategic for us," said Lamek Dowansiba, Chairman of the West Papua HIPMI BPD, in a written statement.
For your information, the XVIII HIPMI National Conference is planned to be held in Lampung on June 10, 2026. This grand agenda carries the main agenda of electing the new General Chairperson of the HIPMI Central Executive Board for the 2026–2029 term of office.
Lamek assessed that choosing Lampung as the host would increase travel costs for members from eastern Indonesia, especially Papua.
"I think this National Conference should be held in a strategic location, considering that for those of us from Papua, in eastern Indonesia, plane tickets are very expensive, especially the price of aviation fuel," he said.
He explained that transportation costs were the main obstacle for young entrepreneurs in Papua to come to Lampung.
He asked the Steering Committee (SC) and Organizing Committee (OC) of the National Conference to consider logistical aspects logically.
According to him, the committee should look for a location at a midpoint that is easily accessible to all regional administrators from Sabang to Merauke.
"The cost of getting there is very expensive. They should have found a central location so we could all attend this National Conference," Lamek said.
Apart from the distance issue, Lamek also regretted the lack of information from the HIPMI Central Executive Board (BPP) and the prospective host regarding the profile of the implementation location.
To date, he admitted that he had not received a detailed presentation regarding transportation access, mobility on site, or accommodation readiness.
