Badminton players Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are stepping up preparations for the 2026 Singapore Open and 2026 Indonesia Open tournaments.
Fajar said that his preparations this time went well and he just needed to focus on the adaptation process considering the conditions of the match arena at the Singapore Indoor Stadium were quite windy.
"Yes, in Singapore in particular, we've been preparing ourselves. The court conditions there are quite windy, so we've also prepared with a fairly fast shuttlecock here , because it's different from previous tournaments," Fajar told reporters.
Echoing Fajar, Fikri also admitted that the preparations that had been made were quite thorough, with training methods adapted to the competition arena.
"We've been following along, adapting our training here to the field conditions and the shuttlecocks there. And yes, hopefully, the draw will be even better," said Fikri.
Fajar/Fikri decided not to participate in the 2026 Thailand Masters and the 2026 Malaysia Masters to focus on preparations for the 2026 Singapore Open and the 2026 Indonesia Open.
Furthermore, Fajar admitted that his condition did not allow him to do so due to the limited time available for preparation, considering that he had just represented the Indonesian team in the 2026 Thomas Cup.
"We don't want to just keep competing and not getting good results. So, we're focusing more on the tournaments we've already prepared for, and we're well-prepared," Fajar explained, explaining his reason for not competing in the 2026 Thailand Masters and the 2026 Malaysia Masters.
The 2026 Singapore Open is scheduled to take place from May 26-31, while the 2026 Indonesia Open will take place.
