Indonesian men's singles player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting said he needed to improve his playing style after his progress was stopped in the round of 16 of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Malaysia Masters 2026 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala.
Ginting had to admit defeat to third seed Christo Popov from France after losing two straight games 17-21, 14-21.
"Future evaluations will focus more on playing patterns, as each match will be different," Ginting said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match.
The player from West Java admitted that he had difficulty facing Popov's game, which he considered to be more mature than in previous meetings.
In the first game, Ginting was actually able to put up tight resistance before finally losing momentum after the interval. He admitted that he lacked discipline in maintaining the pattern of play so that it was easier for the opponent to control the match.
