He explains why. Dr. Aurelio Rojas, a cardiologist, confirmed that only one type of chocolate can be considered beneficial to health, explaining the scientific reasons behind this.

The doctor explained that chocolate that can be considered beneficial to health must have two essential features; the first is that it is dark, and the second is that the percentage of cocoa in it ranges between 70 and 85 percent.

He noted that dark chocolate may contribute to reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction, in addition to its role in helping regulate blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This is attributed to its content of compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its ability to boost nitric oxide production, which plays a vital role in maintaining healthy arteries and their function.

However, the doctor stressed the importance of moderation in consuming dark chocolate, recommending that the amount consumed should not exceed 10 grams per day.

For his part, nutritionist Dr. Roman Pristanski explained that dark chocolate containing at least 70 percent cocoa is a rich source of flavonoids, which are antioxidant compounds that help lower levels of bad cholesterol and promote healthy blood vessels.

He added that dark chocolate also contains high levels of magnesium, an element that supports the functions of the nervous system and muscles, and also contributes to improving sleep quality.
