The Indonesian Government Communications Agency revealed that the level of public satisfaction with the 2026 World Cup broadcast on TVRI reached 80 percent based on the results of digital conversation analysis, indicating high public enthusiasm for the global sporting event and wider access to broadcasts.
"The 2026 World Cup is one of the issues that has attracted the most public attention in the digital conversation space," said Dudy Rudianto, Chief Expert for Strategy and Communication Systems at the Indonesian Communications Agency while delivering material at the 2026 Public Communication Summit themed "Synergy in Managing Issues and Reputation in the Digital Era" in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
He said the high level of public happiness was driven by the public's hope of being able to watch World Cup matches more easily and evenly.
"TVRI's presence as the broadcasting rights holder is seen as opening wider access for people in various regions to enjoy the match without additional costs," he said.
Based on research by the Indonesian Communications Agency , 60 percent of public discussions regarding TVRI's broadcasting rights were positive. This sentiment was dominated by pride and nostalgia for the return of World Cup broadcasts on public television, which has had a wide reach across Indonesia.
As much as 35 percent of positive conversations emerged because the public appreciated the free broadcast access that allows people from all walks of life to enjoy the match without having to subscribe to a pay-TV service.
This condition is considered to strengthen the function of public broadcasting services in providing information and entertainment that is easily accessible to the public.
Additionally, approximately 25 percent of public conversations highlighted the potential economic impact that could be created during the hosting of the 2026 World Cup.
