Central Java becomes the province with the highest number of waqf land certifications

Central Java Province has become the region with the highest achievement in waqf land certification in Indonesia, with approximately 73 percent, or 73,864 waqf land plots, having been certified.

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency  Nusron Wahid in Semarang, Tuesday, said the achievement was the result of accelerated certification that has been taking place in recent years.

"Nationally, Central Java's performance is above the national average, at 73 percent. This is a remarkable leap, especially over the past three years. The public's awareness of certifying places of worship is remarkable," he said.

This was conveyed by Nusron on the sidelines of the handover of 243 waqf land certificates to 243 nadzirs throughout Central Java at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Semarang.

However, he revealed that there are still around 27 thousand mosques, prayer rooms, and other places of worship in Central Java that have not been certified.

Therefore, the Ministry of ATR/BPN is targeting a minimum of 95 percent certification of waqf land in Central Java within the next three years.

Nusron explained that a number of obstacles were still being encountered, including the death of the wakif  unclear land boundaries, and the absence of an officially registered nadzir .
