Israel claims to have bombed Hezbollah targets in Beirut's southern suburbs

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that it had struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut's southern suburbs.

A joint statement by Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that, based on their instructions, “ the Israeli army launched strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut against terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah organization, in response to the party firing towards Israeli territory.”

Meanwhile, journalists reported hearing explosions in Beirut's southern suburbs.

The Lebanese news agency reported that an “enemy raid” on the Ghobeiri area in the southern suburbs targeted a residential apartment near the highway between Mushrifieh and the airport bridge with two missiles.

There was no immediate comment from Lebanese authorities or Hezbollah.
