Israel: We do not know the details of the US-Iran agreement and refuse to abide by its terms

on Tuesday that the United States rejected an Israeli request to review the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran, at a time when political and military tensions are escalating related to the agreement expected to be signed on Friday in Switzerland.

The channel reported that Israel had asked Washington for details of the agreement, but its request was rejected, which, according to the channel, means that Tel Aviv is still unaware of the full final version of the memorandum, despite the approaching signing date.

She noted that US President Donald Trump pledged to read the document “word by word,” without specifying a date for publishing its details, while the US administration has not yet announced any official terms, except for Iranian media leaks that spoke of 14 terms within the agreement.

According to Israeli and Iranian media reports, the most prominent points of the agreement being discussed include a cessation of hostilities between Iran and the United States and their allies, including in Lebanon, along with Iran's commitment not to develop or possess a nuclear weapon, and discussions on the uranium enrichment file and the management of the enriched stockpile, while maintaining the status quo of the nuclear program during the negotiations.

Key points of the circulated US-Iranian memorandum of understanding:
1. Iran and the United States, along with their respective allies, will cease all hostilities, including those in Lebanon.
2. Iran will commit to not developing or possessing nuclear weapons.
3. The issue of enriched uranium stockpiles will be addressed by both parties.
4. Iran's nuclear enrichment program and needs will be discussed.
5. The status quo of Iran's nuclear program will be maintained during negotiations.
6. No new sanctions will be imposed, and maritime restrictions on Iranian ports will be eased during negotiations.
7. Arrangements will be made to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days without fees.
8. Frozen Iranian assets will be made available for use in implementing the memorandum.
9. If a final agreement is reached, US forces will withdraw within 30 days, and sanctions against Iran will be lifted.
10. A fund for the reconstruction of Iran will be established as part of a final agreement.
11. Iran will be granted temporary waivers to sell oil and fuel during negotiations.
12. Talks will be held with Gulf states to regulate navigation and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz.

In contrast, Israeli media and official statements quoted officials in Tel Aviv confirming their rejection of any commitments to the agreement, with Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch stressing that Israel “is not bound by the American-Iranian agreement,” and confirming the continuation of military operations in Lebanon.

Israeli Ambassador to Washington Yehiel Leiter also said that the Israeli army “will not withdraw from southern Lebanon,” expressing his objection to including the Lebanese file in the agreement, describing it as “unhelpful and unnecessary,” despite acknowledging that his country does not have a complete picture of the memorandum’s provisions.

In the same context, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen confirmed that Israel would take military action if the Iranian nuclear program or attacks against it were to resume, warning of strikes against targets inside Lebanon, including Beirut and its southern suburbs, if it were to be attacked.

These developments come amid a US-Iranian announcement, supported by Pakistani mediation, of an agreement to end the war that broke out on February 28, which was launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran, amid Iranian talk that stopping the war in Lebanon is part of the agreement, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

On the ground, Israel has continued its operations in southern Lebanon since March 2, 2026, resulting in 3,826 martyrs and 11,851 wounded, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, in addition to the continued occupation of border areas and the expansion of incursions into Lebanese territory, despite declared international understandings.
