Israeli minister: The Qatar-Turkey-Pakistan axis is worrying

Israeli Diaspora Minister Amichai Shekli expressed concern Wednesday morning about what he called the “Qatar, Turkey and Pakistan axis,” claiming that it was this axis that formulated the agreement to end the war between the United States and Iran.

This came in statements made by the minister from the Likud party, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to “103 FM” radio, which belongs to the “Maariv” newspaper.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump said that his country and Iran had already signed an agreement to end the war, while Tehran merely stated that the memorandum would be signed in Geneva, Switzerland on Friday.

According to observers, this signing constitutes an immediate activation of the ceasefire and the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran, while Geneva will witness the public signing ceremony and the launch of the 60-day phase of the thorny technical negotiations.

“The emerging agreement is worrying, and what worries me least is the rehabilitation of the Iranian economy,” which has been damaged by the war and decades of Western sanctions, Shekli said.

“What worries me much more is the axis that shaped this agreement: Qatar, Turkey and Pakistan. What we are seeing before our eyes is the rise of a new axis,” Shikli continued.

The minister described this axis as “an extremely dangerous and radical Sunni axis of evil,” according to his claim.

There is sharp criticism in Israel of Netanyahu - who is accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip - who announced that he was unaware of the details of the agreement. The opposition accuses him of failure and lying and considers that Trump “humiliated” him and excluded him from the negotiations.
