The Tangerang City Metro Police are hunting down a network of receivers of stolen motorbikes after arresting a perpetrator who was trying to sell the stolen vehicles in the Lebak area, Banten.
"The suspect is currently being held at the Tangerang City Metro Police for further investigation. Police are still pursuing the network of receivers and the suspect's possible involvement in several other motorcycle theft cases in and around Tangerang," said Tangerang City Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari in Tangerang on Tuesday.
Jauhari said the disclosure began with the success of the Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) in arresting a repeat offender in a motor vehicle theft (curanmor) case who had served four prison sentences for similar cases.
He emphasized that the police will continue to take firm action against perpetrators of street crimes, especially motor vehicle theft, which disturbs the public.
The Police Chief also urged the public to increase their vigilance by using additional security locks when parking their vehicles and to immediately report any suspicious activity in their local area via the National Police 110 service.
