The People's Movement to Support and Defend Prabowo has filed a public complaint against the former Head of the Student Executive Board of Gadjah Mada University , Tiyo Ardianto, to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency for alleged insult to the Head of State.
The chairman of LBH Garda Prabowo, Daeng Lukman, said that this complaint was based on Tiyo's statement which his party considered insulting the dignity of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
"Our public complaint is related to Tiyo Ardianto, the former chairman of the UGM Student Executive Board, who insulted the president by using inappropriate words —I think everyone knows," he said when met at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Building.
He emphasized that Prabowo's Guard genuinely respects freedom of expression and is anti-criticism. However, he believes that insults and personal attacks against the President are unacceptable.
"So, we went to National Police Headquarters and consulted with the public. Whether it will be processed later is another matter. Whether he will report it later, we don't know," he said.
Meanwhile, Attorney Ferdinand Hutahaean, who is representing Garda Prabowo, said that Tiyo's statement that was complained about was related to comparing President Prabowo with an animal.
" That statement is disgusting and not worth mentioning. We're afraid our children will follow suit," he said.
Another complaint concerns the alleged spread of false news regarding the presence of a tracking device in Tiyo's car. He believes these allegations must be corrected as they implicate the government.
The politician also emphasized that this mass meeting was not a form of silencing, but rather a reminder to Tiyo and other members of society that there are limits to freedom of expression.
"Criticize as harshly as you can, and we support students in their critical voices, because this government also needs to be monitored and corrected if it's deviating or crooked. However, we will oppose any attempt to insult, insult, or harass our nation's leaders," he said.
